About Tech Plan Genie

Every school has technology. Fewer have a plan for it.

Most schools can’t say what technology they need, why they bought it, or whether it’s working. The money goes out, the tools pile up, and nobody can point to the difference any of it made. That isn’t a plan. It’s hope.

Tech Plan Genie exists to fix that. We help schools build a technology plan grounded in their own data, their own goals, and a clear view of what good looks like.

How it works

A method,
not a shopping list.

We start with an audit across three areas: the school’s educational systems, the capacity of its staff, and the experience of its students. From there, we build an Individualized Tech Plan with the people who actually run the school, using checklists, a SWOT analysis, and rubrics that turn vague ambition into something concrete.

The plan sits on a four-stage roadmap, so a school always knows where it is and what comes next. Because plans are easy to write and hard to keep, we track progress year on year. That follow-through is the part schools usually miss, and it’s the part that makes the difference.

The audit covers three areas

02 The capacity of its staff
03 The experience of its students

What success looks like

The difference a real plan makes.

01

A school with a clear vision for technology that’s grounded in real data, not wishful thinking.

02

Staff who understand what role technology plays in their teaching, and actually reflect on it.

03

Students leaving with skills that apply to the world they’re heading into.

04

Teachers who grow into leaders in their field, not just consumers of the last budget cycle.

Who’s behind it

Built from twenty years in real schools.

Robert Cobbs spent twenty years working in schools across four continents, including years running the kind of technology department that most school leaders don’t know how to support. He interviewed 50 technology directors around the world to understand how schools really operate when nobody is watching. He built a method from what he found.

He didn’t test it on a paying client first. In 2021, Robert and his wife Irina co-founded Tech My School, a 501(c)3 non-profit that has delivered over $1 million in technology support to under-resourced schools in Puerto Rico. The Individualized Tech Plan was built and refined there, in schools where the margin for error was zero.
